The Cradle of Humankind

The Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site is one of eight in the country. It's the world's richest hominin site, home to around 40% of the world's human ancestor fossils. The Cradle of Humankind Tour will be on Sunday 8 April and will comprise both Maropeng and Sterkfontein. There will be enough time to do both tours and if you select both, we will give you an onsite cash refund of R250.00. Lunch is included.

Maropeng

Maropeng Visitor Centre is a short drive from Sterkfontein Caves. It is an extinguishing World-Class Exhibition focusing on the development of Humans and our Ancestors over the past few million years.

The fossil Exhibits cover an area of 2500m².The underground boat ride is retracing the various stages of the Creation of Earth.

Sterkfontein Caves

Sterkfontein Caves in the Cradle of Humankind was declared A WORLD HERITAGE SITE by UNESCO in 1999, because of its exceptional contribution, to our understanding of Humankind History, and development over more than 3 million years.

It is one of the richest and most productive Polaeo-anthrological sites in the world. The birth place of Humanity.

Lion & Safari Park

The Lion and Safari Park is a 600 hectare wilderness reserve situated in the Hartbeespoort, Magaliesburg and Cradle of Humankind area. The park offers guests an incredible opportunity to get up close to many of South Africa’s most iconic animals.

The Lion and Safari Park tour can be done as a day tour on Wednesday 11 April or as part of the post-conference tour.
